Job Summary:

The Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, working under general supervision, conducts preventive maintenance and performs comprehensive inspections, diagnoses, and repairs on vehicles and equipment.

Indispensable Job Functions:

The ability to fulfill every critical responsibility at a satisfactory level is essential for accomplishing this job. Incidental duties may also be designated.

  • The ability to work independently is necessary as tasks are assigned with written instructions and established procedures.
  • Undertakes repairs and allotted measures for avoiding malfunctions.
  • The personnel executes assessments, investigations, and repairs of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems utilized in vehicles and machines.
  • Makes use of sophisticated vehicle computer systems to interpret failure modes and allocate repair tasks accordingly.
  • The process of determining the expected costs of vehicle repairs and acquiring new components is an essential duty for anyone who works on cars.
  • Ensures that all tasks are carried out within the allotted Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Emergency service calls are promptly serviced for sudden system failures.
  • The process of carrying out safety checks on vehicles has become a necessity.
  • In order to document vehicle repairs, parts usage and repair times, required paperwork must be completed using fleet maintenance software.
  • Supports senior Mechanics to complete project assignments.
  • The Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports are critical documents that help identify repairs needed within vehicles. The repairs found are either reviewed to determine their necessity, or they are assigned and quickly acted upon.
  • Maintains a secure and clean workspace while performing duties that are in line with Corporate and OSHA Standards for safety.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The role does not involve any supervisory obligations.

Education versus Experience: Which is More Important?

  • Education: Not required.
  • This role requires two years of relevant work experience.

  • Clean driving record and possession of a current driver's license are prerequisites.
